UVA Professor Gabriel Finder was allowed to retire and disappear...but the young woman he abused refuses to forget.
The Daily Progress has an extended interview with the 2020 UVA graduate who filed a lawsuit last April claiming that UVA officials and faculty members turned a blind eye as she was groomed, harassed, and sexually assaulted by a professor and former department head 40 years her senior for more than a year, and that a Title IX investigation into the matter (which determined the professor had indeed sexually abused the student) was deliberately delayed and prolonged to protect an otherwise beloved and esteemed professor. It’s an emotional, detailed interview in which the alumna — a Spanish-speaking transfer student who arrived in the Fall of 2018, having immigrated to this country just four years earlier — describes how the professor abused her and the University protected him.
