The Albemarle County Police Department welcomed 13 new officers in 2024.

The Albemarle County Police Department has released its 2024 Annual Report and the news is that everything is down - fatal crashes, speeding is schools zones, crime, and calls for service.

Well, almost everything. The report says that there were 891 mental health calls for service, 57 more than there were in 2023. Those numbers have been increasing steadily since 2020 when there were 635 mental health calls for service.
