The reported public discussion surrounding the reasons for the firing of Police Chief RaShall Brackney by City Manager Chip Boyles has been confusing, and also marked by a series of puzzling contradictions. Here they are:
1) After three weeks, there appear to be no specific reasons for why Brackney was fired so abruptly, other than complaints voiced by officers in a PBA and CPD internal survey, and City Manager Chip Boyles’ determination that the CPD urgently needed a change in leadership. However, when Brackney took over as Police Chief in May 2018 the situation at the CPD was far worse.
