Locked Out: System that allows inmates to receive funds from loved ones crashes
For a week now, inmates at ACRJ have been unable to get funds from loved ones for essential items like food items and hygiene products.
An online system that prisoners at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail depend on to receive money from loved ones for extra food, soap, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, clothing, shower shoes, and other items has been down since Monday, May 19.
"This is a nationwide outage according to the vendor," said ACRJ Superintendent Martin Kumer, who had no updates on the situation yesterday. Today, he says "the system should be back up by midnight tonight."
UPDATE: As of 10:27 a.m, May 26, the system has been restored.
