Credit Sore: City Council credit card usage discussion proves knotty
An unfinished virtual discussion about City Councilor credit card usage wasn't the most important thing on City's Council's agenda last night [though the issue has, unbelievably, been covered by the Associated Press], but it was certainly revealing, proved difficult for Councilors to talk about, and prompted the first public comments from former City Councilor Wes Bellamy since he left office.
As reported on Twitter by Molly Conger, Mayor Nikuyah Walker says she leaked City Attorney Lisa Robertson's recent memo to City Councilors about potentially unlawful payments to community members with Councilor credit cards [Walker has admitted to handing out gift cards to people], " because she felt it would come out anyway & wanted to see how people would react to it. She says people have confirmed her suspicions that people would be upset by her choices."
